Assessment
Find out how your child's school assessments are managed, including rules on absence, medical certificates, and special arrangements for NSG or SYF participants.
School Assessment Policy
Absence from assessments must be covered by a medical certificate issued by a doctor.
Students with valid medical certificates will receive a 'VR' (Valid Reason) for the missed assessment. His / her overall marks for that subject will be computed based on his / her achievement in the other assessments.
Parental letters of excuse will not be accepted as valid reasons for absence.
Students who fail to provide a valid medical certificate will receive zero marks for the missed assessment.
For the well-being of your child/ward, parents/guardians are advised not to send your child/ward to school on the day of the assessment if he/she is unwell.
Students exhibiting any of the following conditions on the day of assessment will be sent home to rest and not be allowed to take the assessment:
Fever
Flu-like symptoms
Communicable diseases (e.g. HFMD, chickenpox, gastroenteritis)
On medical leave
Alternative arrangements will be made for students who are selected to participate in National School Games (NSG) or Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) competitions to take the assessment at a different time, should the competition dates coincide with the assessment dates.
