Responsible Use Policy
Responsible Use Policy for use of EdTech Resources
Dear Gongshang students,
Educational Technology (EdTech) helps us learn, play, create and connect in many ways. Examples of EdTech include:
-
Learning devices (such as tablets and laptops)
-
Online accounts (such as Student Learning Space “SLS” and MOE Identity Management System “MIMS”)
-
School internet networks
We want to use EdTech safely, kindly and responsibly so that all of us can learn well and stay safe online. Read on to find out how we can do so.
Using School EdTech
-
Do not try to open files or systems that you are not allowed to.
-
Only use school devices and account for learning.
-
Keep food and drinks away to prevent spills or damage.
-
Handle devices carefully and report any damage or loss to your teacher.
-
If you damage or lose a device, you may have to pay for repair or replacement.
School devices are shared across fellow students. When a school device is damaged, another student may not to get to use it for learning.
Being a Responsible Digital Citizen
-
Be respectful online. Do not post or share anything that is:
-
racist or offensive,
-
rude, hurtful or bodyshaming, or
-
vulgar or using bad language.
-
Do not use any devices to
-
create or share inappropriate pictures, videos or messages, or
-
threaten, bully or pretend to be someone else.
-
Do not use school accounts for buying or selling things.
The school will take disciplinary action against anyone who breaks the rules stated above.
Respecting Other People’s Work
-
Always get permission before using pictures, videos or music created by others.
-
Do not copy, change, or share digital work without permission.
Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)
-
Only use AI tools if you meet the age requirements set for that tool.
-
If your teacher allows you to use AI, you must state when and how you used it in your work.
-
Be honest. AI can help you learn, but do not use it to do your work for you.
Staying Safe Online
-
Tell a teacher if you see something strange or if your device is not working properly.
-
Keep your passwords and personal information private.
-
Do not share them with anyone or post them online.
-
Be careful when clicking links or downloading files.
-
Do not talk to or meet strangers online.
-
Remember that AI tools can make mistakes or show inaccurate information. Always check the facts. Approach a trusted adult if unsure.
-
Digital Well-being
-
Balance screen time with outdoor play and time with family and friends.
-
Avoid using devices too much outside of learning time.
-
Rest your eyes and take short breaks from using devices regularly.
-
Stop using screens at least one hour before bedtime so that you sleep well.
